Andrea B. Berkowitz is a partner of the firm. Ms. Berkowitz’s practice consists of litigation and collaborative law. Since 2004, Ms. Berkowitz has been representing individuals throughout Long Island, New York City and Westchester County in a wide range of family and matrimonial law matters, including, equitable distribution and custody disputes, spousal and child support, paternity, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
Ms. Berkowitz is highly regarded as a compassionate and zealous advocate who takes the time to help each client develop legal strategies custom tailored to achieve their individual goals. Ms. Berkowitz believes that a client’s best interests, both emotionally and financially, are often served by staying out of the courtroom. Ms. Berkowitz prides herself on her creative and compassionate approach to negotiating divorces, allowing clients to avoid the emotional and financial costs of litigation. However, when settlement is not possible, she is a formidable courtroom advocate and litigator.
Before devoting her practice to matrimonial and family law, Ms. Berkowitz was a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services. Her experience in this role provided her with unique and valuable insights into the safety, welfare, and best interests of children, and how the law approaches children and families in crisis.
Ms. Berkowitz has been recognized in the legal industry for her excellence in family law by earning acclaim in the New York Metro Super Lawyers Edition. Ms. Berkowitz is a member of the Matrimonial Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. She received her B.A. from Arizona State University and her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, where she served as an associate editor of the Hofstra Law Review.
