We are very pleased – and very proud – to announce that as of September, 2019, our firm is expanding both geographically, and in legal talent.
First, we are excited to welcome seasoned family law attorneys Michael Fried, Ellen Werfel Martineau, and Abby Rosmarin, who are joining BBNS as partners.
Mr. Fried will be joining our Manhattan office. An experienced litigator and trial attorney practicing exclusively in the field of Matrimonial and Family Law since 1997, Mr. Fried has assisted high net worth individuals to navigate difficult matters relating to equitable distribution, child support, spousal maintenance, and contested custody matters with patience, skill, and sensitivity. Prior to joining Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein, LLP, Mr. Fried was a partner for a prestigious boutique Matrimonial and Family Law firm. In April 2018, he was appointed as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a nationally recognized organization which maintains an exclusive membership of approximately 1,650 attorneys in the country, of which approximately 165 of its members practice within the State of New York.
Ms. Werfel Martineau and Ms. Rosmarin will be heading up our new Westchester County Divorce and Family Law practice.
Ms. Werfel Martineau is an experienced, tenacious and compassionate family law attorney. Prior to joining BBNS, she was an attorney with a prominent New York City Firm where she specialized in corporate reorganizations, commercial litigation and high net worth divorce cases. Since 2009, Ms. Werfel Martineau’s practice has been exclusively focused on matrimonial and family law in Westchester and the surrounding counties (Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess and Orange) and New York City. Ms. Werfel Martineau has been honored as a Super Lawyer from 2014 -2019 and as a Top Women Attorney in Metro New York and Westchester.
Ms. Rosmarin concentrates her practice on alternative dispute resolution. An attorney and a NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselor, she draws on her training and experience in law, conflict resolution and mental health to mediate a wide range of family disputes, including divorce, separation, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, custody, parenting conflict, parent/child, trusts and estates, elder care, as well as those arising in the context of family-owned businesses. Ms. Rosmarin also serves on a variety of court-affiliated dispute resolution panels. Her past legal practice included commercial litigation, and nearly 10 years as the Assistant General Counsel to Peugeot Motors of America.
We are also happy to welcome Samantha Cooper, Juris Doctor from Cardozo School of Law Class of 2019, who will be joining our Manhattan location as an associate. Congratulations to Ms. Cooper on graduation and we eagerly look forward to her admission to the State Bar.
Finally, and as hinted at above, Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein will be opening a fully staffed and operational office dedicated to serving our clients located in Westchester County. Our new office address is: 445 Hamilton Avenue, 15th Floor, White Plains, New York, and can be contacted directly at 914-308-3435. We are very excited to directly engage with and serve the Westchester community.
